The white fluff on the larger, more recent pictures is the remains of a crappy new spray-on varnish I tried. It looked fine while being sprayed on, but when it started to dry, it suddenly turned white. I quickly tried to scrub off as much of it as I could before it was completely dry, but I didn't catch everything in the recessed parts. So much for trying out a new, supposedly environment-friendly varnish. needless to say, the can landed on the trash rather quickly, accompanied by a few curses.
